Cricket was played in Indonesia starting from the year of 2000. A year after that, Indonesia joined ICC (International Cricket Council) on 2001 as an affiliate member. On the beginning of the years cricket played in Indonesia (especially with the expatriate), cricket has started to spread in all nations, with the help of expatriates in developing the sport starts from Bali, Jakarta, Banten, and West Java.
On 2011, Cricket Indonesia has officially became the member of KONI (National Sports Committee of Indonesia) and KOI (National Olympic Committee) not long after.
Cricket has officially become an exhibition sport at National Games in Riau Province 2012
PCI implement the National Championship that was joined by 12 provinces in all Indonesia.
Cricket Indonesia won their first ever medal ath the South East Asian Games 2017 in Malaysia, with 1 Silver medal for Women, and 1 Bronze Medal for Men.
For the first time, Cricket was included as a sports category in the National Games XX/2021 in Papua, featuring Sixes, Super Eights, and T20 formats played by teams from across Indonesia.

The Women’s National U-19 team secured a place in the U-19 Women’s qualifiers held in South Africa—a significant achievement for Indonesia’s national cricket team. Additional achievements include six victories in the Indonesia–Singapore Women’s T20i Series, a 2nd place finish at the ICC–EAP Men’s World Cup Qualifier, a 20th position in the ICC Women’s T20i Ranking, and a 56th position in the ICC Men’s T20i Ranking.
In 2023, Indonesia's Women’s U-19 team triumphed over Zimbabwe in the Women’s U-19 World Cup. The team also participated in the SEA Games 2023, securing Gold and Silver Medals in the Women’s category and a Bronze Medal in the Men’s category. Additional achievements include 3rd place at the ICC–EAP Women’s World Cup Qualifier and 4th place at the ICC–EAP U-19 Men’s World Cup Qualifier.
