Jakarta – The Indonesian U-19 Men’s Cricket National Team made history on the international stage by securing the runner-up position in the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup 2025 East Asia Pacific (EAP) Division 2 Qualifiers.

The tournament, held from August 6–10, 2024, featured intense competition against formidable teams such as Papua New Guinea (PNG), Vanuatu, and host Samoa. Indonesia advanced to the finals but ultimately fell to Papua New Guinea, earning the runner-up title.

This achievement marks a milestone for the Indonesian Cricket Association (PP PCI), demonstrating that the team can compete at the international level.

"The Indonesian U-19 National Team performed exceptionally well after a long journey to Samoa. This result is the best in the history of Indonesian U-19 cricket, showing that our development programs are bearing fruit," said PP PCI Chairman, Abhiram Singh Yadav, in a press release.

Head Coach of the Indonesian U-19 team, Akash Ferdinandz, emphasized that the experience gained from this tournament is invaluable for the future of Indonesian cricket. The runner-up position reflects not only the team's hard work and talent but also the growing potential of cricket in Indonesia.

"By continuing to focus on strengthening our batting and bowling units, Indonesia has the opportunity to become a more formidable force in global cricket. The lessons learned from this tournament, particularly in handling high-pressure situations, will be crucial as the team prepares for future competitions," he said.

The ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup East Asia Pacific Division 2 Qualifiers have been a pivotal moment for Indonesian cricket.
