Jakarta - The Indonesian Men's National Team defeated Cambodia with a final score of 4-2 in the Bali Bash International tournament. The event took place in Bali from November 20 to 23, 2023.
The General Secretary of the Central Management of the Indonesian Cricket Association (PP PCI), Albert Tangkudung, praised Indonesia for demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship by helping provide drinks to the Cambodian National Team players in each match.
"This was done by the Indonesian National Team players due to the limited number of Cambodian National Team members," said Albert in a press statement.
In the initial matches, Indonesia started the tournament convincingly, securing consecutive victories against Cambodia.
"This proves the hard work of the Indonesian Cricket Association (PCI), which continues to independently conduct national training for the Indonesian national team," said PP PCI Manager Afie Fiermansyah.
In the first match, Cambodia, batting first, recorded a score of 135/7 (20 ov) through a tightly contested inning. However, Indonesia successfully chased the target in the second inning with a score of 136/3 (17.4 ov). Padmakar Rajaram Surve was named Player of the Match after scoring 37 runs and remaining not out.
In the second match, Indonesia again demonstrated its dominance with solid bowling and fielding. Edi Guna Artawan (3/15) and Maxi Koda (2/28) played a significant role in halting Cambodia's progress with a score of 138/8 (20 ov), while Indonesia confidently chased the target with a score of 139/2 (12.5 ov).
In the third match, Cambodia defeated Indonesia in a very close contest. In a match where Indonesia batted first, the final scores were 156/5 (20 ov) for Indonesia and 157/2 (18.2 ov) for Cambodia.
In the fourth match, Indonesia bounced back with a resounding victory. The young Garuda players, batting first, scored a substantial 192/7 (20 ov) and restrained Cambodia to a score of 88/8 (20 ov). Indonesia's Kirubasankar was named the man of the match. With this result, Indonesia led 3-1 in the series.
Moving on to the fifth match, the competition was fierce between the two teams. Indonesia, batting first, scored 144/8 (20 ov). However, Cambodia chased the target in the second inning with a score of 148/3 (19.3 ov). Thus, Indonesia maintained a lead over Cambodia in the series with a score of 3-2.
In the sixth match of the scheduled 7 matches, Indonesia, fielding first, continued to press Cambodia until the 11.3 over, where Cambodia's score was 77 with 3 wickets. However, Cambodia chose not to continue the match (forfeit), so according to international federation rules, the match referee awarded the victory to Indonesia. With this result, Indonesia won the series with a score of Indonesia vs Cambodia 4-2.
"This tournament proves that the Indonesian team is continually developing to compete on the international stage against strong opponents. I express my gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the Bali Bash International. In PCI, we have the motto 'we are ready to learn, and we are ready to win.' We will return with the same sportsmanship in the next tournament," said Abhiram Singh Yadav, the Chairman of PP PCI.
