Bali emerged as the overall champion of the 2014 National Cricket Championship, securing the title in the women's U-23 category. In the decisive match on Sunday (28/9), Bali's U-23 women's team triumphed with a score of 93-55 against the Jakarta team.
The final featured three teams using a round-robin system, with Bali securing two victories against Jakarta and West Java. On the preceding day, Saturday (27/9), Bali had won 152 runs with 4 wickets against West Java's 95 runs with 9 wickets.
The championship comprised four categories: U-17 boys and girls, as well as U-23 boys and girls. Bali claimed victory in three of them, namely U-17 boys, U-23 boys, and U-23 girls. The U-17 girls' team was won by the Papua team, with 10 out of 14 players hailing from Bali.
Frengky Sonny, the coach of Bali's U-17 girls' team, attributed Bali's success to the existence of a cricket league and the inclusion of cricket as an extracurricular activity in schools, ranging from elementary to junior high school. The cricket league, running from May to October, sees teams competing once a week.
"If there are many winners from our region, it's because there is a league in Bali. Cricket has also become an extracurricular activity in schools. So, it's not difficult to find players; in fact, the coach has difficulty selecting them," said Frengky
